DRESS REHEARSALS

DRESS REHEARSALS AT THE THEATER
We do our very best to adhere to the rehearsal schedule but ask that you allow for some slippage to the published times.  Dress rehearsal is the time that we use to iron out any wrinkles that are discovered once everything and everyone is on stage, and sometimes we find ourselves running longer than planned.  Please be patient and trust that we are working hard to create the best experience for everyone involved in the shortest amount of time possible.

DANCERS

  • Please arrive at the theater at your rehearsal time IN COSTUME & MAKEUP.
  • Dancers should report to the theater/house upon arrival. The front rows of the theater will be labeled with each CHARACTER in the show – dancers should sit in their assigned row until they are called to the stage to rehearse their dance.

ACTORS

  • Please arrive at the theater at your rehearsal call time in base makeup and wig caps (if necessary). Bring your makeup & and necessary costume accessories. You will dress in your costume, apply stage makeup and style your hair at the theater.
  • Actors should plan to stay for the entire rehearsal time and will receive notes at the conclusion of the complete run-through.  You may bring water & a non-messy snack.

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT

  • Dress rehearsal is the time to take pictures of your performer on stage.  We ask that NO photography nor filming take place during the actual performances out of courtesy to the guests sitting around you and the safety of the performers on stage.  Feel free to snap away during rehearsal!
  • If you are planning to wait in the theater while your performer rehearses, you should be aware that sometimes the house can be a little chilly.  You may want to bring a sweater or throw blanket to ward off the chill while you wait.

PERFORMANCE DAY!

Doors to the theater (house) will open no sooner than 30 minutes before the scheduled performance time.  All guests will be required to show a ticket to the usher to be admitted to the theater.   Tickets may be shown as either a printed hard copy or an order confirmation that lists the show and seat numbers on your smartphone.  Tickets purchased at the door will be $20 each.

The process for dropping off & picking up your performer is spelled out below.

DROP OFF/ARRIVAL – DANCERS:

CALL TIME:  Dancers should arrive at the theater 30 minutes prior to performance time.  The performer should be IN COSTUME with STAGE MAKEUP APPLIED and HAIR APPROPRIATELY STYLED – DO NOT plan to dress at the theater.

For the safety and security of all of our students, no parents will be allowed backstage. Dancers will be dropped off at the designated door in the back of the theater where they will check in at the performer’s table and be escorted backstage.  Dancers will remain backstage until the conclusion of the show.

DISMISSAL – DANCERS:
At the conclusion of the show, young dancers will be dismissed from the stage by SAA staff. PARENTS – PLEASE REMAIN IN YOUR SEATS!
When your dancer’s class is announced, 1 adult/guardian (Mom) should walk to the stage to retrieve that dancer.
We realize that this process may be slow-going, but it ensures that dancer and parent are safely reunited after the show. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
Older dancers will be dismissed generally and are free to meet you at a time/location you determine.
