Inspiring Excellence through Arts Education
She spins a pirate's tale of adventure as she discoveres the letter "P". All in a day's play at Performing Arts Preschool. Arrrgh!

Preschool (ages 30 months to 5 years)

At Performing Arts Preschool, we believe participation in the arts not only prepares a young person for future success in formal education, it also fosters creativity.

By allowing students to experience the curriculum through their bodies, they make deeper emotional, interpersonal, and kinesthetic connections to academic subjects.

The twice-weekly classes will be spent dancing, singing, playing, growing, giggling and learning, allowing students to experience the curriculum through their bodies, as opposed to spending their class time in a traditional passive learning posture – glued to their seats, “sitting still”.  Students will also be entertained by special guest artists throughout the year, and will perform for their families and friends twice each school year.

Classes will be held at SAA’s home-like studio where students will be immersed in an artful atmosphere of dramatic play, song and dance that will cultivate the fundamental skills they will need to be successful in their formal education, as well as foster the inspiration to soar.

THE PAP DIFFERENCE

Psychologists, neuroscientists, and experts in early childhood development have demonstrated that music does more for children than bring them joy; it helps their brain cells make the connections needed for virtually every kind of intelligence. By supplementing the world-renowned Kindermusik® curriculum with corresponding dance activities and dramatic play, PAP students will benefit at many levels:

Early Literacy.  Students will gain the phonological processing, spoken language, and comprehension skills that are the foundation of reading.

Quantitatively. Students will build the spatial-temporal and reasoning skills required for math, science, and engineering.

Socially-Emotionally.  Students will develop social and emotional skills that are essential for school readiness—like the ability to regulate their responses and relate to others in complex ways.

Physically.  By moving and dancing to music and playing simple instruments, children will improve their gross and fine motor skills.

Creatively. Activities that encourage freedom within a fun and friendly structure will spark children’s creativity and provide inspiration.

“The Performing Arts Preschool at SAA is absolutely amazing!  My daughter loves going and has a blast.  She has developed a love for singing, dancing, and performing.  She has also grown exponentially in her academic and social development.  As an educator and a parent, I was looking for a program that was engaging, nurturing, and educational with terrific teachers – Suwanee Academy of the Arts has all of this and more in its Performing Arts Preschool.”

–Dr. B. Duff (parent of a student in the Performing Arts Preschool)
