FAQ

Q: How do I know which level class to register my child for?

A: If you are a new student to SAA, pick the class that is appropriate for your child’s age. If that is not the right level, the teacher will let you know and advise you as to which class to try. If you are a current student and are not sure, ask your teacher to recommend the correct class. The front desk is always happy to help place your student as well.

Q: What if I miss a class?

A: If you are absent you can make up a class in another class of the same type and level. The schedule is available online. Just let the teacher know that you are making up a class.

Q: Why do I have to pay for a whole month if there is a holiday in the month and I don’t get 4 classes that month?

A: We formulate the tuition scale based on 32 classes in a school year session. You are not paying for the particular month, but making a monthly payment. Some months you may get 3 classes and some 5. For the ease of billing we use the formulated system.

Q: What if my family moves or we have to stop in the middle of the year for some reason?

A: We hope that you can stay with us for the entire session and be a part of our end of the year performance, but if not, we ask that you notify the office as soon as you know so that we can fill your spot if there is a waiting list. You pay first and last month’s tuition when you register, so we will keep your May tuition as your 30 day notice.

Q: Why is the end of year performance all the up in Gainesville? Why can’t it be closer?

A: We do 4 shows with about 150 students in each show. The theaters in our area are lovely, but they are not big enough for us. We expect about 600 audience members per show. The Gwinnett Performing Arts Center is big enough but we have been on their waiting list forever. So for now, we go up to the beautiful Riverside Military Academy theater in Gainesville.

Q: What do I have to pay a recital fee every year?

A: The recital fee goes towards the rental of the theater, insurance, stage hands, set building, renting a truck to move sets in and out, paying a lighting designer and a sound engineer… all of the things it takes to put on a performance of our size and caliber.

Q: Do I have to pay a registration fee every year?

A: We give you an opportunity to pre-register each Spring for the next year. If you take advantage of that, you can waive the registration fee.

Q: Why do I have to pay and admin fee each new school year for private music lessons?

A: The admin fee takes care of the expenses for your 2 possible recitals/share days each year.
