Suwanee Academy of the Arts

Musical Theater — Voice

No prior experience is necessary. This class is not only for the trained singer, it is great for the drama student who wants to participate in musical theater productions. We will help the artist find a song, prepare and stage it, so that it is ready for audition or performance. The class helps to evaluate what works from the audience perspective as everyone discovers how to move from singer to performer, while building a ready repertoire for auditions and performances.

The class will assist the student in not only choosing audition pieces, but also on the preparation of these pieces. We discuss practical tools which will help the student in auditions beyond the class. Exploration and discussion of what is expected of those going into auditions will also be investigated. The goal at the culmination of the term is for each student to have at least four strong, contrasting audition songs.
